Peninsula Packing 1.1MW

In 2006 Peninsula Packing, LLC installed a 1.1 megawatt solar system at it’s manufacturing facility in Exeter, CA.  The ground mount tracking system was installed on 10 acres of land next to the plant and was designed to supply 30% of the plant’s electrical needs.

At the time the project was installed it was the largest private solar system in North America, evidence of Peninsula Packing’s commitment to conservation.  “It was less of a business move and more of a corporate citizen endeavor, ” said Co-owner Ed Byrne “This company is a believer in conservation.”

A-C Electric Company worked with PowerLight Corporation on the installation of this project.  That relationship continues today with SunPower Corporation, the firm that acquired PowerLight in 2006.
